Jose Dieck

Jose started his involvement with aquariums at a very young age.  His interest in reef and marine aquariums was started nine years ago when he and his family were based in Singapore where marine aquariums are extremely popular. He has been active in different forums supporting aquarists mainly focusing on discussions regarding aquarium equipment, its functioning and setup. His aquarium, a 300-gallon, 8-year-old predominantly SPS system was featured as Tank of the Month by Reefkeeping Magazine in October 2005.

Jose has an MBA and a degree in mechanical and electrical engineering. This knowledge, combined with his passion for aquariums, evolved in what he describes as his “aquarium tinkerneering” and has led him to get involved in activities to test different aquarium devices, reactors, chemical media and to a continuous meddling in pursuit of improvement in those systems. At present, he maintains online calculators including the Calcium Reactor Set Up Help Page and the seemingly popular Reef Chemistry Calculator.

Jose's work involves leading work process improvement projects for one of the leading global manufacturers of industrial, medical and electronic gases.  He resides with his family in Naperville, Illinois.
