Does anyone know the proper water depth to run the I tech 100 in. Or can you send me in the right direction for the instructions. Thanks

Hey there,
I'm not sure if this is allowed here, but I have a fully restored I-Tech 100 with a brand new Tunze Hydrofoamer pump for sale.
Best skimmer I've ever had but I'm unfortunately departing the hobby for awhile and I thought this would be a good place to offer it up.

I think you could sell it here, but a price might help.

Bump anyone still running a I-tech skimmer?

I currently setup a 150g tank back in October. I was running my itech200 on it for a bit. I was given a Bk mini 180 so I switched out the itech to try the Bk. But Iím really thinking about going back to the itech. I always seemed to get a darker nasty skimmate with the itech then I can get with the Bk.

What do itech users think.

FYI I did upgrade the pump on my itech to a dc pump do I can control the bubbles pretty good.

The I-Tech 200 should be fine on your 150 I ran one on my 120, it barely fit in my sump, but I will try it on my new 240 and see if it can hold up that tank. Which pump do you have on it now? I run the Tunze 9420 on mine.

Iím running the skimz 5000 dc on the i-200. When I bought the 200 it came with the 9420. But after going through 3 motor blocks in 12 years or so. Do to cord split I was done with Tunze pumps. The last time the cord split I was at work and it fried my dc8. So I highly recommend you check the cord on the 9420 before using it. I will say that the DC pump likes to be in less water. I find the dc pump like to sit in about 5-6Ē of water.

I know the 200 will be enough for the 150g. I had the i-tech on the tank till about 2 months ago. But switched it out for a BK mini 180. But I find the BK a really finicky skimmer. It seems like I was alway fine tuning it. The I-tech never seemed to be that finicky.

I ended up switching back to the itech200 yesterday.

One of my huskies chewed up the adjustment valve tube so I had to micky mouse the BK valve on to the itech.

The foam is really thick in the neck

Looking good I will check my cord before I fire it up again. I know that my old Sicce 2500 the cord went bad within the first year.

Well been really board for the last week. I got an idea to mod my 200. Last week I ordered a few parts. Got a new 1.25Ē sch80 pipe, a new sch80 T, and a sch80 sleeve. Couldnít find sch80 cap thatís why I got a sleeve. I converted the drain into a down drain

It now has a smaller foot print and fits better in the sump. I was actually able to drop it down in the sump too. So it now doesnít have to sit so high in the water.

I still would like to clean up the lines with the pvc welds like itchyman did but all in all Iím impressed with how itís running now with the dc pump.

In about 15 hours this is what the itech has pulled out

I love the itech skimmers. They are beasts. This is what a week of the BK mini 280 did

Bump any i-Tech users still out there?

This skimmer is my still all time favorite skimmer. Iíve tried BK and the itech200 still out competes it.
So a bit of back story. After going through 3 hydrofoamer motor blocks. I switched over to a skimz dc 5000. I also did a few mods to the 200 as well had to make the inlet holes big enough for 1Ē pvc and made the drain pipe down draft style. What I did is documented in earlier post on this thread.
Iím running an itech200 on a 150gallon. I originally had the pump at half power and it was over skimming the tank where I was starving sps. Now Iím running the pump at itís lowest setting and itís skimming perfectly.

The skimmer gives me a lot of opportunity to add a whole lot more fish.

Had to move my shop recently and broke this out of storage so I can install it on my new fish system.

Is yours powered by the Tunze or laguna?

I have the tunze 9420,my first pump was the Sicce 2500. It will go in my upgrade 225 gallon tank that is sitting in my garage and all of the equipment that I purchased for this tank, the only thing I need is a Ghost Overflow.

Another modification on my I-tech 200. I made a manual neck cleaner

https://youtu.be/WXqDIHjl6vw

So my itech has the carbon lid witch made this modification easier. Warning for the faint of heart I did have to cut pieces out of the original lid.
Another thing that made this mod possible is that I had a piece of acrylic tube that fit perfectly inside the part thatís over the neck. Idk is it called the bubble pop shield? I took the tube a capped one side. Then added an arm with a rubber squeegee.

I then cut a hole in the lid so that the tube could pass freely through the lid if I took the carbon lid off. I then made a 2.5ĒX.5Ē circle spacer that I glued to the top of the swabbie lid. I then made a 2.5Ē circle hole in the carbon lid

The spacer and swabbie lid fit perfectly inside the original rid.

I than made a extra large washer out of 1/8Ē acrylic. This washer stops the swabbie lid from falling on top of the skimmer neck.

Then I took the piece that I cut out of the original lid and cleaned it up and made it as the turn handle

This is a side view

So if you noticed an acrylic pin coming out of the swabbie lid it was added after I found out that the nylon bolt would unthread and loosen when I would spin the lid backwards. Oops
