I am going to start this thread off by saying I am a little confused. I was hoping to incorporate a snowflake into my 30 gal scorpionfish set up, but I can not figure out if I can do it or not. According to reef fishes vol. 1 by Scott W. Michaels, min tank size is 30 gals and it would then work out. But I wanted to double check, so I checked here and a few other forums. From this and other forums I got tank sizes from 55-125 gals! So what it boils down to is, could I do it? Is Scott W. Michaels wrong or is this information outdated? Or would 30 gals be with the snowflake being by himself?

I am no expert but don't think it would be enough room. LA lists 50g as the minimum but I think that is probably on the low side. I have an 18" one in a 120g.

The recommendations are really based on filtration limitations and the fact the intention is almost always to have additional fish, it’s not about not the space the eel needs. A system with a small display and giant sump would actually be awesome for an eel only tank IMO.
