Buy new or used

I am looking to get back to the hobby after 6 years off. I was curious if you were starting over and budget is semi a consideration would you try to buy used? Or spend extra money to buy new.
Challenge I have is my ideal tank would be a 24*48 peninsula and those seem rare on both markets.

There are things I would get new like heaters return pump.

Lights could be either

Tank used if in good condition
