New to the Hobby, but have read a couple books...
Hi.
I am starting a "starter" FOWLR set up. Its 41 Gallons bent glass cube. with 2.5 inches of argonite, somed curshed coral mixed in..not much. About 15lbs of base rock so far and a pound of cultured rock. It has a fluval 205 currently working and one extra small power head near the bottom blowing into the rock (i think its 260gph) i have the correct salt level and temperature. I have been feeding it little, its about a week old so far. Lights are flourescents..about 50watts total. Whats next? |

I should add that i previously kept a stable FOWLR 65G ..and very over stocked with 2 peculia clowns, a royal gama, a flame angel, a small yellow tang, a small blue hippo tang, a marine beta (comet), stable for over two years prior to my divorce when i could not move the tank.
Thats been years ago..i realize that was over stocked and i did lose several fish in the process of getting it stable (fox face, one other tang, were the main to) I wish not to overstock for this size tank and i do wish to take my time. The plan is to eventually convert it into a small reef and then use it as a starter kit for an eventual 125Gallon in about 2 years or so...i want to culture my own live rock, sand and some live stock in the smaller tank and them move it later... Edit: More specificially i am wondering how much rock i need in a tank this size (and how fast), If i can reasonably get away without a skimmer since i wont be stocking inverts and will have plenty of rock, and what kind of and how many fish i might be able to stock..i would like your SPECIFIC...41 Gallon suggestions on fish stocking and possibly HARDY inverts.. later if/when i add skimming and upgrade the lights..ill be asking more advanced questions i suppose...
