Thank´s guys !

This is my float, and I did a little kalk reactor, dripping all day long. I think this is a good ideia to keep ca and alk , easy to do, cheap and efficient.

Looing good. I check this thread every day - several times! LOL.

I now have my lights and skimmer. On Friday I have taken the day off to go order my tank woohoooo! Then it will be a loooong wait!

Like your DIY kalk reactor. Does the input tube go deep into the reactor (to sort of mix the kalk?

Sereval times ? Now we will have to be patient , no news for a while

Yes, there is a yellow tube deep in to the reactor, so the water pass through the kalk powder

Now there is nothing to do, just wait the end of the NH4 cycle

My water test :

No2 : 1 ppm
No3 : 0.3 ppm
Po4 : 0.00 ppm
pH 8.2

Now when No2 hits 0.00 ppm I will add some corals and one fish to begin

Best Regards

What are your fish stocking plans? I think I saw a small tang in your last tank. Will you be having a few large fishes or many smaller fishes?

what are your plans for supplementing? ca reactor, dosing pump or some other method? Are you going to have all equipment under the stand or elswhere? That was one of the biggest reason i went to a larger tank, so i could fit all the equipment under the stand.

I´m thinking in 4 clowns, two ocellaris and two blacks. I already had one little wrasser in a LFS waiting for me. And maybe 3 or 4 green chromis, just a couple of small fishes here.

Now just kalk for ca and alk, and in the future when I have more corals , kalk and two parts if necessary

Everything is inside the stand. My dream would be a room just for the equipments, maybe in the future in a new house I can do that

Best Regards

One thing about that overflow, how do you clean it or is there a way to clean it? Or does it even need to be clean??

The second piece of glass that is in the tank for the overflow, is it painted black?

Hi Kurtkob,

Your English is better than mine I live in Brazil, I did this tank in a LFS close to my house. There is no brand for this kind of overflow

I never clean, but you can do if you want. For example, if you have a boom of algae, clean is a good idea

I painted both sides with black, inside and outside, but not where the water falls

Look here, where the water falls is just glass ,without any kind of paint

And here, my rk is already working

Nice setup and I like the float valve setup too. Did you buy that float valve online? And if so, where?

I forgot, please check out my friend Amfyn in the Large Tank setup. He has a 2mx1mx80cm 24mm starfire rimless tank with the skinny overflow. Adriaan from Idol Marine which is a master tank builder was the first to introduce these kind of overflows and returns built into the display.

No actually I started the habit after he left for Brazil. He's there on a mission for our church. he's in the Ribeirão Preto area, I think in a town called mirassol? Anyways, sorry to detract from your thread - I was just interested. When I build my own tank I'm using your overflow idea by the way - that thing is awesome! It makes the back of the tank look so much cleaner!

Hi,

Mirassol is a small town here. When you go ahead with your tank just let me know

Very nice indeed. Please post a photo of the BK180 skimmate when it is producing a good skimmate. I want to compare to my Bubble Magus NAC6. Thanks.
