Final decision made.
For emergency back up I have finally decided on a portable generator. I was looking at a standby unit but at 3 times the cost it just wasn’t worth it to me.
We have a power outage once every 3 years that would last longer then 3 hours, most times it’s more like ½ hour to an hour. But if it does hit I will be covered. Maik1 |

It's been a while since I checked in on the thread. Good work with the goldrim, I'm glad things are progressing well for you. The tank is looking superb. Could you give a feeding schedule for you fish please? type of food/how many times a day/ what time of day you're feeding.
The goldrim looks much better now. |

I feed frozen food only, I try 2x day. Just before 7 am and after 6 pm. But many times it turns into once per day, after 6pm.
I give 4-6 cubes with garlic per day after it sits out for the day. The Apex stops the skimmer for 5 minutes the return pump for 3 minutes and the OM+CLpump for 1 minute. 2-3 time per week I feed green+red sea veggies too. Maik1 |

Transferswitch installed
Well I got my transfer switch installed for my generator for a simple and quick hookup to the house when the power goes out.
Tested everything and works great. Except now after switching the tank power on and off and from the grid to generator power, my Apex display is now DEAD. Nice! ![]() Ordered a new one last night and will send this one in for warranty repair. Nothing is ever perfect, nothing. Maik1 |

Jbanks gave me this advise with ICH in the past and it worked for me.
I know this sounds like snake oil but I have seen it work!.... Get some fresh ginger root fom the grocery store and ground it up in some water in a blender and soak the nori and other food in it before giving it to the Tang. There is a good chance that the parsites will fall off. Obviously, these parasites have always been in the tank because you haven't added anything, however, your PBT was strong enough to fight them off until the tank was stressed by the anemone spawning. You have to get him back to that point again and this may help.. Keep him eating!" |

Wired Up Apex & Calcium Reactor
Did a lot of work today, wired up the Apex and set up my Calcium reactor.
Everything is up high and out of the way. I also hooked up my ATO finally! 2 dedicated 15amp lines from the fuse panel, one for the heater/Chiller the other for the rest. I'm glad it's done! ![]() Maik1 |

WHAT a DAY!
What a day! I tell you, what can go wrong WILL with me!
So after turning off my Calcium Reactor for 1 week so I can adjust the levels better I decided to turn it back on this morning. After 30 minutes or so I happened to look at the water level on the sump. It was LOW! Like 10 gallons low! I knew something was wrong but what? Again I looked around and saw this. 1" of water under the sump and under the pumps! My pond liner that I put behind and under the stand held it all in. The best $145 ever spent!!! But where is the water coming from?? Found it. The plastic PVC fitting split into two, after two weeks of being fine. NICE! NEXT??? Maik1 |

Nice work on the electronics end of things! Very clean and professional.
Glad to see that the pond liner did it's job...we say it all the time - how essential it is to put fault tolerance into every design. Of course, even with all that we still have to be vigilant. Catching problems early is a benefit of closely monitoring your systems. As far as the necrosis with your coral - was it RTN or STN? What all have you tested for? Any other corals showing stress? Possibility of predators?

Is feels a lot like fall in Canada this week, so now my brand new Socket Expansion module for my Apex to control my 900 watt heater failed!
NO HEAT in the tank, down to 75 all day. I'm not impressed! ![]() If I wiggled or tapped on the module it would work for a second. This was brand new, never tested. Lucky me I had a brand new spare unit to swap out with the other NEW ONE!!! Not funny! Maik1 |

Phosphate level .05 to .01
Phosphate level from .05 to .01 in less than a week!
Made an Alae Scrubber for my system. Using a Eheim compact+ 5000 pump and set to about 800G/H. The lights are 18hours on and 6 hours off. Maik1 |
