ok trying to decide between the tek 4x39 or 6x 39 Im not planning on having much sps in the aquarium so would I need 6x39?

any 40 breeders with 4x39 have sps? if so how are they doing?

also if I go with the 4x39 any bulb config suggestions?

You would not need 6 tubes if all your trying to keep is soft corals. I would with 3 ATI blues + and a giesemann aqua blue. But that just me I like my tank really blue.

I'd just go with a 250 watt MH pendent and be done with it.

Well that's tough. If you won't be doing MANY SPS, a 4-bulb will be FINE. Even with a 4-bulb, you should be able to do SOME nearer the top(probably mid-tank and higher). The problem I see is that noone actually stops at a FEW SPS, and upgrading later to the 6-bulb would much more expensive than doing it now.

If there is a chance you might get addicted to the "color sticks" later on, go with the 6. OTherwise, 4 should be FINE for that tank.

Current Tank: 20 Gallon tall, 4-bulb t5 HO, Eshopps psk75H, ac-70 fuge. So far, green clown goby, striped goby, more gorillas than I wish I had, 5 SPS frags, 3 LPS Frags, 1 Softee, Turkey Wing Clam.

Plan for the future: 120 gallon 4ft glass tank.
